GENERAL: A sea port in the Azov Sea, Mariupol is situated 14 miles Northward of the entry into Taganrog Gulf, at the Western end of it The port of Mariupol consists of the Outer and Inner Roads, the Western Harbour, the Ugolnaya (or the Coal) Harbour, the Grain Harbour, the Ship-repairing Basin. 
WEATHER: The changes in the water level's mainly caused by effects of the wind observed here all the year round. The fan of the water level is usually caused by Northerly and NE winds but rises of the water level are due to SW winds. The range of the water level observed in the Gulf is about 1 m. Changes of the water level can also be caused by variation in the atmospheric pressure, so called @Seiche@ effect. The @Seiche@ usually starts during calm weather and can last, on average, for about 24 hours. The maximum range of the water level due to the @Seiche@ effect observed in August is about 0.6m. 
PILOTAGE: Navigation is all year round, but during 30-90 days period of ice conditions with icebreaker assistance for ice-strengthened vessel only. Ice usually begins from the end of November or December and usually breaks up in the middle of March. It finally disappears at the end of March, or in the first half of April. When proceeding to the port of Mariupol, inform Kerch Harbour Master ETA 24 hours and 6 hours, of Kerch Strait. On arrival Kerch Pilot Buoy |  21 ( Lat. 45 13T N, Long. 36 27TE). drop anchor and await Pilot: also keep continuous radio watch.
RADIO: Vessels, approaching the port of Mariupol should establish radio contact through Mariupol Radio port radio Station operating 24 hours daily.
RADAR: The port of Mariupol radar station gives all possible information to any vessel navigating along the Coal Harbour approach channels in the restricted visibility and during the absence of the floating navigation marks. Radar navigation is controlled by a Pilot in charge.
ANCHORAGE: A good anchorage can be obtained in the Outer Roads of the port of Mariupol situated opposite the port entrance. The depth in the roads are from 5m to 8m, the holding ground is mud mixed with sand and shell,
RESTRICTIONS: Vessels can enter or leave the port at any time of day and night. All vessel entering or leaving the port should have keep clearance not less than 0,5ft (15cm).
The maximum allowed speed in the approach channels is 8 knots and in the port of the Coal Harbour Approach Channel, protected by a wooden dam. only 3 knots.
The speed of vessel may be increased in case of necessity to keep its course along the leading line or prevent drift of the channel due to the effect of current or wind.
Maximum si7es of vessel are draft 8m. and length 200m.
HEALTH: After presenting Vaccination Certificates. Free Pratique obtained.
TUGS: Tug assistance for mooring, unmooring, shifting berths is compulsory Number of tugs to be ordered shall be advised by Pilot.
BERTHING: The berths of the port with depths of up to 9m are equipped to handle general, containers, bulk and liquid cargoes, timber, metals, food stuff, fruit, vegetables, etc.. and passenger shipping as well. There are enclosed, warehouses, open concrete floor sheds and a grain elevator. The Grain Harbour is bounded by two piers - by the Dividing Pier from SW and by the Fasten Pier from NE. The depth in the central part of the Grain Harbour are from 8..7in to 9,1m. The Coal Harbour is protected on its SE side by the Eastern Mole, extending the Length of the harbour. The berth have depth along side of up to 9m. The West en Harbour is protected from the East by the Dike Dam and from the SW by the Western Mole. The general depth in the harbour is 9m.
STORAGE: Covered - near the 3rd and 15th berth. Open concrete floor sheds. Facilities: See table. Caterpillar and pneumatic mobile cranes, forklifts, trucks and other equipment.
CRANES: On the quays there are electric cranes of capacity up to 40t, coal and grain loaders. There are floating cranes with lifting capacity of up to 100t and other cargo handling equipment. Loading / unloading norms: order of priority. One vessel - 24 hours (2).
MEDICAL: Hospital facilities available. Vaccination Certificates to be presented.
DENSITY: About 1005.
FRESH WATER: Delivered at berth . Also delivered by lighters. Vessel are advised to arrive with sufficient fresh water for their stay in port.
FUEL: Delivered by lighers. Supply of fuel to be arranged well in advance of vessel's arrival.
REPAIRS: The ship-repairing Basin is situated in the in Northern part of the Inner Roads. It is bounded on the SW by the Eastern Pier and on the East by the Eastern Dam. The entrance to the Basin is situated between the heads of the Eastern Pier and the Eastern Dam. The Depth in the Basin are from 6.1m to 7.4m. All kinds of repairs for vessels of up to 22000 dw can be earned out.
FLOATING DOCKS: 15000 and 5000 tones.
CERTIFICATES: Registered Tonnage Certificate and all international certificates are required.
CUSTOMS ALLOWANCES: No quantity restrictions. Nothing to be taken ashore.
AIRPORT: 15km from port, but no regular lines,
TIME: Local time GMT plus 2 hours, GMT plus 3 hours in summer.
